BIDs are increasingly filling a strategic data vacuum in the crime prevention landscape.
The National Business Crime Solution has approached all of the UK’s BIDs with a strong message about its own crime intelligence database: “We know who’s targeting your levy payers …and we know when they are in your area!” The approach highlights that the NBCS enables the effective sharing of appropriate data between police, crime reduction agencies and the business community and proactively targets criminality to reduce crime and risk to all businesses – a message that will chime with the Boards of all UK BIDs.
The first BID in the UK to have the service “switched on” with a direct feed into their DISC system was Solihull, so no double keying. The NBCS has three full time data analysts, all ex Police Officers, reviewing the data shared with them centrally from 90 High Street brands. This is categorised and shared with appropriate locations so that BIDs only receive intelligence pertinent to their location.
I’m delighted to be speaking about this at the inaugural Collaboration in Crime Reduction Conference, where I intend to cover the new National standards and the “Manifesto” created for business and aimed at BIDs. This is taking place in Mansfield on Thursday 16th May 2019. Tickets are on sale now from only £15+VAT. It promises to be a fantastic day highlighting great work from within crime and security organisations and BCRPs across the country and providing delegates with essential strategic knowledge sharing and help on achieving the new standards.
